TachiWeb
An open source manga reader for desktop.
Get manga from multiple sites like KissManga, MangaDex, and more.
Read, organize, and keep up to date with your favorite manga all in one place.
My front-end React GitHub repo and backend repo and executable
Note: This project was sunset in mid-2020. While the app still runs, most source website scrapers will be out of date and unable to retrieve manga. If anyone’s interested in maintaining the backend, please contact me and we can restart work.
Motivation
There’s some great options for manga readers on Android today. But if you’re using a desktop, you have to juggle between multiple websites, remember what you were reading and where you left off, all while dodging shady advertisements everywhere.
I joined null-dev as the front-end developer to create a unified manga reading experience for desktops.
We used Tachiyomi, an amazing Android manga app, as a starting point. Since there was the possibility of legal issues trying to host this on a server, we opted to make this a locally hosted Electron app.
This is a hobby project, and I’ve been working on it on and off in my free time.
